Savannah- William Howard McAlum, born in Anderson, South Carolina to Ruby and Bill McAlum on August 13th 1929, died Thursday, April 16, 2014.
He later became the brother of three sisters, Evelyn, Bobbie and Joan, and a brother, Dudley, whom he was known as 'Howard'. He drove a school bus for many years for the high school he graduated from in Lyons, Ga. In 1950, he served in the U.S. Army in the 389th Transportation Port Battalion. After returning home, he graduated from Armstrong and married his loving wife, Louise Aeger. She has called him "Bill" for 57 yrs. After working in the insurance business for 42yrs he became known as "W.H.", "Mac" and "The Insurance Man". He has been part of Ambucs and served whole-heartedly with the Ambucs bowling program for 25yrs.
He has proudly been called "Daddy" by his daughter, Elizabeth, and a "father in law" to David DeGeorge. He is known to many as a "brother in law" and "Uncle Bill".
Yet the proudest name he has ever been called is "Granddaddy" by William, Kathleen and Thomas DeGeorge.
Although, He may be a man of many names, one thing for certain is he has always been patient, kind hearted and loving to all those who know him.

Elizabeth and all the family, We are just so sorry for the loss of your Dad and your Mom. My prayer is that God will provide the strength and comfort you and the family need to get through this extremely difficult time. They were good friends of our family for many years. Perhaps he and Vernon can go fishing or 'sell a policy'. Betty Mills and family
